Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) claims the percentage of new electric van sales in its overall total for the year to date is running at almost twice the national average.
The manufacturer says that in the year to 30 September 17% of its van sales were electric and that in the year to 31 August BEVs accounted for 18% of the total.
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), BEVs made up 9.1% (22,118 units) of the overall LCV market in the first nine months of 2025.
The government’s ZEV mandate stipulates that BEVs should account for 16% of each manufacturer’s LCV sales this year, rising to 24% in 2026 and on to 70% in 2030.
VWCV sold a total of 24,601 LCVs of all propulsion types in the year to 30 September, according to the SMMT, resulting in a market share of 10.2%, which made it the second biggest selling brand behind Ford. Its sales were, however, 12.3% down compared to the same period in 2024.
VWCV has moved to further bolster its electric van sales by offering 12 months’ worth of cashback savings for customers who purchase a BEV during October.
VWCV says customers who place orders for a new e-Transporter or ID. Buzz Cargo between 1 and 31 October can claim up to £100 cashback every month for a year, resulting in savings of up to £1,200.
