Transporter gets the X factor

Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Volkswagen has just launched a Transport Sportline Limited Edition X in short- and long-wheelbase van and short-wheelbase Kombi guise.

The list of goodies unique to the vehicle includes chrome and black Dakar alloy wheels, specially-designed black and blue leather seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and rear parking sensors. Just 150 of the vehicles will be produced. Each one will be individually numbered, with a certificate for the owner. Two metallic paint finishes are available; silver or blue.

The newcomer costs £500 more than the equivalent Transporter Sportline T30 174hp 2.5-litre TDI PD. Retail prices (including a metallic finish) are £25,065 for the short-wheelbase van, £25,545 for the long-wheelbase and £26,805 for the kombi. A new Transporter will appear in the UK early next year.

Moving up the VW weight scale, Crafter is now being sold with a three-year/unlimited mileage warranty as standard.
