Citroen turns on the power

Date: Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Citroen has launched what it claims to be its most powerful van – the Euro5 Relay 35 HDi 180.
Available in panel van and chassis cab formats, the 3.0-litre 6-speed manual model went on sale in June and delivers a 12.5% power increase over its predecessor, the Euro4 Relay 35 160.

Peak torque remains at 400Nm but the new engine develops this at 1400rpm – 300rpm lower than the HDi 160 it has replaced.

The Euro5 HDi 180 also improves fuel consumption. On the combined cycle the new Relay 35 L3H2 panel van returns a claimed 32.2mpg – a 9.2% gain compared to the Euro4 version.

CO2 emissions of 224g/km represent a 9% fall compared to the previous model.

Citroen’s commercial vehicles operations manager Scott Michael said: “The new low emission and fuel efficient Euro5  HDi 180 powered Relay models will be welcomed by operators needing the benefits of both high payload and load hauling performance.”

The Heavy L3 and L4 chassis cab versions are priced at £21,740 and £22,040 excluding VAT respectively while the L3H2 panel van comes in at £25,590.
