Peugeot welcomes emissions targets

Peugeot has welcomed the European Parliament’s latest set of emissions targets for light commercial vehicles.
With its strength in the small van sector, the French brand claims it already meets the 2014 range-average CO2 target of 175g/km and its smallest vans, Bipper, 207 and Partner offer models that fall below the 2020 threshold of 147g/km.
A spokesman for Peugeot said the showroom average emissions figure across the brand's commercial vehicle line-up is 171g/km.
The Bipper, which is the baby in the line-up, boasts unladen emissions of 109g/km on stop/start versions, Peugeot claims. The Bipper was the biggest selling small van in the UK last year with 4969 registrations, according to Jato. Average emissions for the Bipper range are 124g/km.
Peugeot's biggest UK seller overall in 2010 was the Partner, on 5625. Average emissioins across the Partner line-up are 145g/km but the HDi 90 FAP powertrain emits 140g/km.
This will reduce in April to 129g/km following the introduction of stop/start technology, says Peugeot, and be cut again to 124g/km in the summer with the addition of the EGC manual gearbox.
The 207 has unladen emissions of 110g/km CO2 from its HDi 70 FAP engine and 115g/km from the HDi 92 unit, resulting in an average of 112g/km.
