Qi fits the bill for utilitiies

Date: Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Qi Van Systems exhibited a range of its made-to-order specialist conversions at the Commercial Vehicle Show.

The Telford-based company claims to be the “converter of choice” for many of the UK’s utility companies. On its stand was one of 300 Land Rover Defenders recently adapted for use in rugged terrains by Scottish Southern Electricity.

Meanwhile, racking specialist Bott launched its lightweight in-vehicle modular storage system Bott Vario at the NEC. Incorporating the company’s new black and grey corporate ID, the half steel, half aluminium structure offers a 25% weight saving over its all-steel predecessor. Bott said Vario had been crash tested at the same force as a child seat is tested under. Average cost is about £2000.
