North east-based body builder Vic Young Conversions has produced an electric box van based on the Nissan e-NV200.

The South Shields firm claims it is the first such conversion to appear in the UK and says it is pioneering the manufacture of electric light vehicle conversions to meet the demand from urban businesses and traders created by the UK government-backed zero carbon agenda.

The e-NV200 box van offers a 575kg payload, low level entry and an 8.5m3  load volume, which is an increase from the 3.9m3 of the standard e-NV200.The vehicle, which is priced from £34,000, excluding VAT, is available with options such as a choice of rear closures, twin-sided roller shutters and internal racking applications.

Vic Young has also produced a wheelchair accessible van based on the e-NV200 and a refrigerated conversion for the exclusive London department store, Harrods.

It plans to bring an electric dropside, tipper and waste bin collection van to market in the  spring of 2019.

Vic Young, managing director of the family-owned business, said: “This is an incredible achievement for us and I could not be more pleased with the team who brought this to fruition.

“We always look ahead with our conversion projects so that we can transform the market in new, exciting ways and I think the all-electric NV200 box van is evidence of this. I firmly believe the market is ready to go all-electric with vehicles for trade and industry.”

The e-NV200 box van comes with a five-year, 100,000 mile warranty.

Vic Young Conversions has Conformity of Production accreditation from the Vehicle Certification Agency as well as European Whole Vehicle Type Approval for its conversion products.
