Volkswagen has revealed preview images of its new, third-generation Amarok pick-up, due to go into production next year.

The new model is being developed through a partnership with Ford, and will be based on the new Ford Ranger.

The previous-generation Amarok went off sale in Europe in 2020.

VW says the new Amarok will be produced in South Africa, as well as in Argentina where the previous-generation model is still made.

Technical details about the new Amarok are currently scarce, but VW claims it will feature “extensive” equipment, “significantly more” driver assistance systems, and innovations new to the segment.

European orders for the new Amarok are set to open in late 2022. Prices are yet to be announced.
