Bi-fuel conversion developed for LEVC VN5

A bi-fuel conversion has been developed for the LEVC VN5 electrified van.
The conversion, which can also be applied to the related TX taxi, has been developed by HP Taxis, Prins Alternative Fuel Systems, and SBL-Automotive.
It is designed to allow the models’ range-extender petrol engine to run on alternative fuels, including compressed natural gas (CNG), liquified petroleum gas (LPG), biomethane and biopropane.
The developers claim the conversion, developed independently of LEVC, allows a 10% reduction in CO2 emissions when LPG is used, 20% when CNG is used, and 99% for biomethane and biopropane, while all also offer a 30-50% saving in operation costs.
Costs for the conversion are yet to be confirmed, but the developers are targeting the system paying for itself within 18-24 months.
