Ford reveals Platinum flagship for new Ranger

Ford has announced a new flagship model for its next generation of Ranger pick-up trucks, which is available to order now with deliveries expected to start in the first quarter of 2023.
The double-cab only Ranger Platinum will cost £44,400 and will be powered by Ford’s new 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine, which produces power of 240hp and maximum torque of 600Nm.
The engine is also featured in the brand’s luxury SUVs and the F-150 pick-up in North America. Power is delivered through the Ranger’s new electronically controlled full-time all-wheel drive system, combined with Ford’s ten-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift scheduling and mounts re-engineered to reduce noise and vibration.
The manufacturer says the Platinum will have a towing capacity of up to 3,500kg and a payload of more than 1.0-tonne. It will sit above the Wildtrak at the top of the Ranger line-up.

The Platinum’s exterior gets a unique grille, chrome finish and 20in alloy wheels. Further features include a soft-close tailgate, privacy glass and daytime running lights within matrix LED headlamps and roof rails.
Inside the driver and front passenger seats feature perforated and quilted leather with ten-way power adjustment, heating and cooling functions, while the cockpit is centred around dual 12-inch screens - a digital cluster replaces the traditional gauges ahead of the driver, alongside a portrait touchscreen controlling Ford’s SYNC 4A infotainment system. Ranger Platinum also features an eight-speaker B&O audio system and wireless device charging as standard. Connectivity is delivered by a standard FordPass Connect modem, which Ford claims enables multiple modules to be wirelessly future-proofed via its Power-Up software updates.
In addition to Wildtrak, the Platinum series comes with Active Park Assist with Park Out Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage, Lane Change Warning and Aid, and a 360-degree camera as standard equipment.
Lower down the Ranger line-up, customers can now also order the XL trim, priced from £27,550 excluding VAT for the single chassis cab, £28,275 excluding VAT for the single-cab variant and £29,800 excluding VAT for the double-cab and XLT, available in double-cab only, priced from £31,150 excluding VAT.
