Marston Holdings is said to have achieved a 13.4% fleet fuel consumption saving with Michelin Connected Fleet smart data and personalised performance analysis.

Marston operates a fleet which includes 650 vans, alongside 350 cars, 300 scooters, and around 150 trucks.

Michelin data is said to show the company has reduced its fleet size by 9% during the last year through improved asset utilisation, whilst engine idling has dropped by 14% and CO2 emissions have decreased by 4%.

Data gathered by Michelin Connected Fleet covers daily mileage, usage, range and terrain, and is helping Marston to work out where ICE vehicles can be switched for electric, factoring in charging infrastructure, downtime, and range.

On-board telematics is also said to be aiding the company’s risk management strategy, with detailed reporting used to modify driver behaviour and leading to fewer incidents of harsh accelerating and braking. As well as reducing the risk of accidents, this also helps with anticipating maintenance requirements to reduce unscheduled downtime.

Marston head of fleet and transport Lee Jackson said: “We’re using Michelin Connected Fleet to monitor the data from all our vehicles to make sure we get consistent information.

“It gives us absolute confidence in the data to assess, validate and verify our operations, directly supporting us to make decisions which help the business to become more sustainable.

“Michelin Connected Fleet has been great, proving 100% reliable and giving us real-time insights about how the fleet is performing.”
