Vans are leading growth in used vehicle leasing, as companies strive to overcome problems with new vehicle supply, according to the BVRLA.

The rental and leasing industry body said that from a low base, used van leasing has grown 123%, demonstrating the high demand and potential opportunity.

The data comes from the BVRLA’s most recent Leasing Outlook Survey, covering the period to the end of 2022.

Overall, the BVRLA’s vehicle leasing fleet has grown by 0.3%, which the organisation has chiefly attributed to business contract hire cars. The overall LCV fleet grew by 0.2%.

BVRLA chief executive Gerry Keaney said: “New business models and changing usage patterns are demonstrating the adaptability of the sector.

“The data paints a picture of innovation, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to keep people mobile.

“To surpass pre-pandemic levels is a crucial milestone and enables us to look forward with optimism.”
