Fleet management and telematics specialist Runyourfleet this year launched its new cloud-based runyourfleet.com platform, which was developed in-house by its own software engineers to meet the specific needs of its varied and wide customer base.
Initially aimed at the under-served SME market, the business has grown to attract customers of all sizes, and now serves over 1,200 businesses operating 26,500 vehicles across the UK. Based on a simple subscription model, Runyourfleet says that through the platform, customers can choose the level of fleet management service they need along with a range of add-ons, and can self-serve online 24/7, 365 days a year.
Functions available on the platform include the ability to add, edit, allocate, and de-fleet vehicles, retrieve MOT status, Road Fund Licence reminders and vehicle history directly from the DVLA, select a range of breakdown services paid for on a monthly basis, and book services and MOTs online. It also manages insurance and licence checks as well as driver profiles and vehicle allocations online, performs and report DVLA licence checks, runs reports and performs analyses on spend, SMR, breakdown history and vehicle off road times, sets instructions allowing for flexibility for fleets based on vehicle type and usage, manages cost centres, stores key documents in the cloud, accesses all documentation relating to Runyourfleet and books a van delivery within two hours from across the UK.
Runyourfleet claims the platform is unique and enables central management of fleets with mixed acquisition policies and mixed suppliers. Accessed on a software as a service basis and starting from as little as £1.00 per vehicle per month, the low cost has enabled SME businesses as well as large businesses to access class-leading fleet management software without the need to make large capital investments.
The platform’s customer base covers a variety of sectors and business types with some key names, including Pilot Pens, the NHS, Outco, Axis Europe, Indigo Telecom, U-Drive, Cygnet Healthcare and Retail Marketing Group. RunYourFleet also supplies services and access to its platform to some competitor leasing and fleet management businesses on a semi-white labelled basis.
Runyourfleet claims the platform has revolutionised the way many of its customers operate their fleets, with a better focus on duty of care while saving time on administrative tasks and money by accessing the range of services with aggregated discounts throughout the platform.
Runyourfleet was founded in 2011 to provide a range of fleet management services to small and medium-sized businesses that were not being served by the established players when it came to breakdown cover, SMR and accident management, but were also not receiving the equivalent level of customer care, particularly in the case of LCV operators. Its customer base has expanded and today includes businesses operating from two to up to 2,500 vans. It promises the same level of customer service to all, with an emphasis on reducing off-road time.
With most of its subscription packages operating on a flexible, rolling monthly basis, customers can leave the service at any time should they wish to. Despite this, Runyourfleet achieved a customer retention rate of 99.8% over the past 12 months. Throughout the pandemic, the team at Runyourfleet helped customers save costs with advice on such matters as promoting lower cost services and on how to SORN vehicles not being used.

In-cab driver training firm Lightfoot has developed technology to help operators transition to electric vans. It says how you drive an EV has a significant impact on whether the vehicle can do its job in terms of range, due to the impact on productivity created by re-charging and reduced range. It argues that charging behaviour – when and where drivers charge and for what duration – is critical to the success of EV operation for any fleet and the life of the EV battery. Lightfoot says its EV telematics portal provides everything companies need to know about EV fleet management.
Lightfoot squeezes a fleet’s drivers into a tight, high band of driver efficiency, which means businesses get to “tighten the loosest bolt” in the vehicle, the driver, and de-risk the largest risk to vehicle range a fleet faces by managing driver performance.
